CAPITAL CITY FILM FESTIVAL 2024
The CAPITAL CITY FILM FESTIVAL’s (CCFF) mission is to celebrate artists from around the world by curating outstanding multimedia experiences.
The 13th annual CCFF takes place April 10-20, 2024 in several venues across Lansing, MI and kicks off with a dynamic Red Carpet Premiere Party.
The festival was included in the hotlist of the “25 best film festivals in the world” by Moviemeker Magazine.
THE SHORT FILMS
“Birthmarked” by Mehrshad Golkarian is a story of Fatemeh, a 14-year-old girl with a birthmark on her left breast, who is forced by her father to marry a suitor at such young age. Dissatisfied with this, she orchestrates a bold action to prevent this early marriage.
“Waiting Here” (Ti aspetto qui) by Gabriele Brundu tells about an event that disrupts the life of Andrea, a 9-year-old boy, forcing him to put a strain on his childhood. With the help of his parents, young Andrea moves lightly in the world of adults to restore broken balances.
“STAY” by Luca Canali was born with the intention of addressing the most severe of mental symptoms, the second leading cause of death among young people, which paradoxically is spoken about very little: self-injury and suicide.
“Just graduated, Laura works as an usher in her mother’s theatre. The razor blade is her only companion. As she faces her dreaded control round; she discovers that she is not as alone as she thought.”
“Soul” (Anima) by Andrea Baglio, set during the Second World War, tells the story of three Italians fleeing from a handful of Yugoslav militiamen seeking revenge for the oppression suffered during the fascist period. Alma, a girl of our times, sees her present intertwined with the painful past of the protagonists.
