The twentieth edition of the VideoConcorso Francesco Pasinetti dedicated to short films opens today, 24 May 2023.

The festival, born and raised in Venice, from an idea of the “Amici del Pasinetti” Association in collaboration with the “Michelangelo Guggenheim” Art School of Venice and the “Giovanni Valle” Multimedia and Graphic Art School of Padua, takes its name by the famous Italian film critic and director Francesco Pasinetti, who dedicated a large part of his life to the promotion and enhancement of auteur cinema.

The event, which enjoys the patronage of the Regione Veneto and the collaboration of the Municipality of Venice, Coop Alleanza 3.0 and the Circuito Cinema, develops through different sections and attributes particular importance to the documentary genre, especially when connected to the city of Venice.

The VideoConcorso Francesco Pasinetti, which stands out for its ability to combine art with social commitment, passion with beauty, solidarity with originality, as well as history with memory, has become a meeting point crucial among young cinema enthusiasts and industry professionals. In addition to this, the festival aims to promote film production in Venice, also offering a valuable opportunity for independent and experimental works.

The short films, selected by Giovanni Andrea Martini, Marco Paladini, Michela Nardin and Gaetano Salerno, have dealt with a wide range of themes. The variety of genres and styles has made the competition even more interesting, offering the public a fascinating overview of contemporary national and international cinematography.
