Lorenzo Maugeri
Biofilmography
Lorenzo Maugeri (Catania, 1996) is a director and filmmaker based in Rome. He graduated
with honors in International Relations from Roma Tre University and trained as a videomaker
at the Officina delle Arti Pier Paolo Pasolini, an academy funded by the Lazio Region. He took
his first steps behind the camera with the independent web production ElephanTea,
progressively broadening his experience on professional sets and across different production
fields from directing commercials and music videos to production in the field of digital and
immersive arts with Field A1, through to his collaboration with the newspaper “La Sicilia”. He
made his debut in film directing with the short film Ed è subito sera (2021), winner of the Best
Debut Award at the Tulipani di Seta Nera International Film Festival, which led to its
distribution on Rai Cinema. Since 2024 he has been working as a Researcher at RAI, in the
editorial team of Porta a Porta and Cinque Minuti, while continuing in parallel to develop new
film projects.

Director's statement
In this short film we attempted to capture the feelings of an entire generation born in the 90s. The difficulties of facing adult life and the working world. The frustrations that come from countless rejections, misplaced expectations, and the dreams we were sold through TV series and films where everything seems magical and hard work and perseverance always lead the main characters to success. We speak of a period, the one following university studies, that sees a growing number of young people confused and unable to figure out which path is right for them. Within this context, we wanted to focus on the greatest wealth we have: our relationships. A caress, a hug, a drawing can change a single day or an entire life. And in a society that seems to be moving towards individualism, the gentrification of cities and the resulting isolation, we want to emphasize, now more than ever, how close we can be to one another.
