“The thirteenth year” by Samad Alizadeh has been selected in competition  at Interfilm – 39th International Short Film Festival Berlin.

39th Interfilm Berlin

Founded in 1982 in the squats of Kreuzberg, INTERFILM, now in its 39th edition, is the oldest and largest short film festival in the capital and has developed a charisma over four decades that attracts international filmmakers and local film fans alike to the cinemas every year. The festival, which qualifies for the Academy Awards, has long been renowned beyond German and European borders.

In Iran there are some norms against women and girls in most families. In this film, the director tried to narrate this important issue that influences the behavior of children, especially a teenager during her puberty.
Helia, the protagonist, has become thirteen and this led her family to restrict her from cycling.
